Snow sports enthusiasts can thank new technology and good ol’ mother nature for an early and potentially long snow season.
“It was just good, cold weather. The last time we opened this early was six years ago, back in 2002,” Jim Tust. a Shawnee Mountain Ski Area said.
Ski areas across the region opened earlier this year, some earlier than they could remember. And we’re not talking about bragging rights — some of these mountains were in near-full operation.
