December a record month, says Clive fire chief

Cold weather can create long days for firefighters in Clive and Waukee.

Freezing pipes, vehicle crashes and fires in cars and homes made December a busy month for area fire departments.

“That was a pretty active month for us,” Clive Fire Chief Rick Roe said this week.

His department responded to 204 calls for service last month, more than any month in the history of Clive.
