It looks like Los Angeles County might welcome a cold, wet St. Patrick’s Day weekend as forecasters are predicting unusually low temperatures, heavy rainfall and low snow levels in the mountains this weekend.

FRESNO, Calif. — Two consecutive months of freezing temperatures have taken their toll on California’s citrus crop.
The citrus growers’ association California Citrus Mutual says about 35 percent of the mandarin orange crop will be lost to frost damage following more than 25 nights of freezing temperatures in December and several frosts in January.

Unusually cold temperatures in Southern California continued, with Los Angeles International Airport setting a record low on Friday.
LAX got to only 67 degrees, breaking a record set in 1926, according to the National Weather Service.
