THERE were two storms in the US capital yesterday, and one blew away the other.

Global warming activists had stormed Washington for what was billed as the nation’s largest act of civil disobedience to fight climate change, only to see the city almost shut down by a major winter storm.

One area that appears to be in store for a significant snowfall is Washington, D.C. where a massive global warming protest is planned for Monday. It is being billed as one of the largest ever global warming protests in the U.S. Mother nature will not make it easy as Winter Storm Warnings are posted for the area and snow accumulations could reach as high as 6-8″ with locally higher amounts south and east of the nations capitol.

Al Gore is scheduled before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning to once again testify on the ‘urgent need’ to combat global warming.

But Mother Nature seems ready to freeze the proceedings.

A ‘Winter Storm Watch’ has been posted for the nation’s capitol and there is a potential for significant snow… sleet… or ice accumulations.

A STEEP temperature drop, a blizzard and a downpour could assail the millions expected to attend Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration on January 20, officials said.

“Just given a sunny pleasant 50-degree day, just having that many people around town will be a problem, so any sort of weather issue on top of that is only going to exacerbate that,” warned Christopher Strong, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
