Record low temperatures were shattered in Orlando and Daytona Beach overnight after a cool front moved through the area.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne the temperature dipped to 64 degrees at Orlando International Airport, shattering the previous record of 66 set in 1920.

The Sunshine State was shivering cold over the weekend, with temperatures falling far below freezing during the state’s first blast of winter.
The winter has been wimpy for most of the continental United States until recently. But a strong cold front moved through Florida this past Friday (Feb. 11) and snapped the state back into the reality of winter. The cold plunge turned Florida frigid, and a few weather records fell with the temperatures. Freeze warnings were issued, snow birds complained, and people across the state (gasp!) put on jackets.

The low temperature of 31 degrees recorded in Lakeland early Sunday broke the record of 32 degrees set in 1955, according to the National Weather Service.

South Floridians woke up Tuesday morning to temperatures hovering around the very low 40s that sometimes felt like the mid-30s because of the wind chill factor.
In Fort Lauderdale, a low temperature record of 42 degrees for Dec. 7 that had been in place for 169 years was broken, said Dan Gregoria, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Miami.

We’re waking up to near-record cold morning temperatures and can expect a fairly cool, sunny day in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.
The mercury in Vero Beach has dropped to 45 degrees, 48 degrees in Stuart and 49 degrees in West Palm Beach… and those numbers may fall further before the sun comes up.
