Forecasters say it be the coldest for 60 years this weekend
The spell of polar weather which is about to hit Spain is a phenomenon which happens every seven or eight years, but forecasters think this time could be the worst in 60 years.

Freezing weather is on the way from Russia – putting Britain on course for its coldest winter in 13 years.

A rare, heavy snowfall in central Spain closed Madrid’s airport and paralysed traffic in the city and several German rivers were frozen over as much of Europe remained in the grip of Siberian conditions on Friday.
The bitter cold which has embraced the much of the continent since the end of last year comes amid Russian gas cuts to several European countries.
But not everyone was unhappy about the cold snap, as people in the Netherlands rediscovered the pleasures of skating along the iced-over canals.

Ski resorts across Europe will open this weekend ahead of schedule after the biggest November snowfalls for at least a decade.
The exceptional conditions, including 60cm (23in) of snow on Alpine slopes and even more in the Pyrenees, has given a much needed boost to the ski industry after claims that global warming could devastate its multibillion-pound business.

Spain is seeing a weekend of harsh winter weather with snow, rain and strong winds across the country.
The snow line is between 500 and 600 metres in the North and the Centre of the country, and between 800 and 900 metres in the south. As much as 20cms of snow is expected in parts of Lugo, Ourense and Granada.
