It’s not just people who are hit by the big freeze.
The severe weather has brought a wild winter for everyone.
Animals have to cope with it too and – just like us – some of them love romping around in the white stuff while others find it more of a challenge.

A low-pressure system, dubbed a “bomb cyclone” by local press, dumped 8cm of snow in nine hours, the heaviest snowfall in the region since January 2006, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. It left 13cm of snow in neighbouring Yokohama, while mountainous areas around Tokyo saw up to 30cm.

It has been so cold for so long in Anchorage that the chill has settled into the bones of daily life.

Meteorologists agree: January is on track to be one of the most frigid months on record in Alaska history, according to the National Weather Service.
