Chicopee spends record on winter snow removal
May 12, 2009
CHICOPEE – More than $900,000 was spent for snow removal and related costs over the 2008-2009 winter, the largest amount ever spent by the Department of Public Works in this category.
“It was the highest amount we have ever had,” said Assistant Department of Public Works Robert Andersen.
After an unusually long and snowy winter that saw 71 inches of snow, Andersen said costs kept climbing stremming from rising transportation and fuel costs.
