Ocean Cooling Falsifies Global Warming Hypothesis

Ocean Cooling Falsifies Global Warming Hypothesis

11 May 2009

…A problem for the AGW hypothesis now, is that the oceans have been cooling.  Indeed there is no known mechanism to account for what some describe as vast amounts of missing heat, suggesting that contrary to the AGW hypothesis, heat is not accumulating in the climate system and there is no longer any radiative imbalance from all the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases…

But what does it mean? The earth is warming and the oceans are cooling. If that’s true – then we just need a better model to understand that particular set of facts. Maybe the iceburgs are melting so fast tehy are cooling the water? (I dount it.)

However you look at it, we have screwed-up the climate and our children will pay unless we make some changes.

What is missing in all of this analysis is the roll of glacial melting. If a chunk of ice melts in a glass of water, the water cools, and the total heat content of the water decreases. Thus, global warming generating glacial melting is consistent with a decrease in the heat of the oceans. These data do not provide a proof for or against global warming.

Of all so-called “greenhouse gases” water vapor is about 95% (94.999% natural), and CO2 about 3.618% (3.502% natural). The remaining man-made (anthropogenic) amount of CO2 is then only about 0.117% — too insignificant to cause global warming or climate change. CO2 is not a pollutant and in fact all plant life feeds on it, producing oxygen. Government (including the EPA) claims CO2 is a threat to the planet only so they can TAX it. Always follow the money. And scientists get HUGE grants to keep the myth alive.

The atmosphere and the oceans are cooling, quite logical when you consider the sun inactivity

The left will continue to ignore the evidence because their real goal is to tax the part of their voter block they can’t tax now the poor.

Take a 1/2 hour to check out an alternate theory on climate change.

The website referenced above contains a 6-part video (about ½ hour to watch) which presents a very interesting story covering a different (and exciting) theory about climate change. It claims (and provides considerable justification) that our climate is greatly influenced by solar activity, particularly in the interaction of the sun with cosmic rays. This theory has been around now for almost two decades, and contributions to it have come from scientists specializing in various disciplines, including astronomy, geology, oceanography, and climatology. The story and the science are easy to follow. It is a MUST read for those involved in, or interested in the climate change debate.

Science is never “settled”, and unlike politics, it is also not decided by votes. In any event, the number of scientists now carrying the title of “denier” or “skeptic” continues to grow, and at this point they probably outnumber the proponents of the status quo. Some 130,000+ scientists have signed a protest petition (held by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine). The science is clearly unsettled. What’s more, it’s bogged down in politics. The media has also gone overboard in its support of the status quo. Watch this video and decide for yourself.

Except for the first minute or two of the first video, the entire film is in English. The subtitles are in English during those first couple of minutes.

The paper discussed here was wrong and has been corrected; see http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/OceanCooling/

With reference to global warming which unfortunately so long as governments are considering Cap and Trade and CO2 taxes is still with us.

There might be global warming or cooling but the important issue is whether we, as a human race, can do anything about it.

There are a host of porkies and not very much truth barraging us everyday so its difficult to know what to believe.

I think I have simplified the issue in an entertaining way on my blog which includes some issues connected with climategate and “embarrassing” evidence.

In the pipeline is an analysis of the economic effects of the proposed emission reductions. Watch this space or should I say Blog

PS The term “porky” is listed in the Australian Dictionary of Slang.( So I’m told.)
