BEIRUT: Snow blanketed much of Lebanon Thursday after a fierce overnight snowstorm, with many people trapped in remote villages by blizzards.

Snow settled on the Lebanese coast, in north and south, in a rare appearance in over a decade as the country experienced record low temperatures.

According to the NCMS forecast for today, minimum temperatures are set to test 1°C in the UAE’s mountainous regions while internal areas could see temperatures dipping to a nippy 5°C and coastal areas could see minimum temperatures of 13°C.

In one of the rare occasions, Saudis enjoy the snowfall in Al-Baha city south-west of Riyadh, Tuesday. Torrential rains pouring down on Al-Baha accompanied by gusty winds were accompanied by snow capping the mountains and covering the valley areas and the forests of Al-Zaraeb and Khayrah.

The last report we had like this in mid January said that the snow and cold was the “worst in 30 years“. In January, snow isn’t unexpected in Saudi Arabia, it has happened before. But in May?

Dubai: Night-time temperature has dropped to 9 degrees Celsius in Sharjah and 12 degrees in Dubai, about three degrees lower than what it is usually this time of the year, the met office said on Friday.
