Created in what producers have called near perfect growing conditions, the crop of Discovery apples – traditionally the season’s first – are considered high quality by experts.

The cold weather snap across Britain plunged to new temperature lows causing the sea to freeze in Dorset and bringing chaos to the roads.
The sub-zero temperatures have frozen the sea at Poole Harbour in Sandbanks, Dorset, with ice reaching 20 yards from the shoreline.
Southern England, normally immune to the worst of the weather, was gripped by conditions colder than parts of Iceland and Greenland overnight as temperatures fell close to -12 Celsius (10.4 Farenheit)

Heavy snow and freezing gales are forecast to hit the UK this weekend as the country gets a blast of Arctic weather.
Blizzards are predicted for Scotland and most of the eastern coast of England, where temperatures could drop as low as -5C.
The Met Office is warning of heavy snow showers and biting winds of up to 70mph in exposed coastal and hilly areas.
